Many distinct horse types and figurines have been developed to perform specialized task such as;miniature horses to be kept as pets, larger and more muscular ones for pulling power, like needed for agriculture, and the lighter faster animals for riding and racing.

A horse of today has a life expectancy of 25 to 30 years, but Guinness Book of World Records has listed a pony named Sugar Puff who died at the age of 56. No figurine was ever made of her.  
Today the height of a horse is measured in “hands” (a hand being 4”) to the highest point of the shoulders, if this is less than 14.2 hands it is considered a pony, a Shetland is around 10 hands. This measurement is common throughout the English speaking world.

The Clydesdale was developed in Scotland for the heavy hauling in the coal fields and in the streets of Glasgow.

Today these horses all have four white stockings and pull the Budweiser wagon, a tradition of Anheuser-Bush since 1933, with figurines of each horse, separately or figurines of all 8 of them and the wagon together.
