Willow Tree figurines were introduced in January 2000. Since their inception which included the Nativity, a figurine and fifteen angels, the line has grown to over 300 items including more than sixty intimate willow tree figurines.
Willow tree angels include at least 43 active graceful figurines with simple wire loop wings and sentiments we could not express better ourselves, plus approximately 20 that have been retired. All willow tree figurines are sculpted in columnar no frills design with the lack of facial features and minimum coloration.
Each original willow tree figurine, plaque, ornament, keepsake box and nativity piece is hand-carved by artist Susan Lordi of Kansas City, Missouri, to convey the elegance, peace and serenity that is her trademark. Her work in willow tree figurines beautifully expresses true emotions like love, hope, courage, giving and many others communicated beyond words through beckoning simple body gestures only. A few more noticeable of these gestures in willow tree figurines are the placement of hands, a turn of the body and in particular a tilt of the head leaving the viewer to decide the emotion or meaning.
